Course Expectations For the Edexcel English Language B course students are expected to read extensively and to proactively broaden their vocabulary. Students are expected to have a good grasp of Standard English for both reading and writing and actively participate in class discussions. Students need to have an inquisitive mind in order to analyse the language within texts and draw connections within genres.
Examination Structure
This course is linear and assessed at the end of the Year 11 with one examination.
What will I learn?
In this course, students will develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing. The course is also designed to teach students how to use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation for impact. Students will develop a personal style and an awareness of the audience being addressed for each written task. In this course, students will also develop general analysis and communication skills such as synthesis, inference, and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively.
