Course Expectations In chemistry, you’ll build a deeper understanding of atoms, molecules, and new materials. You'll explore how substances react and bond, examining the periodic table, energy changes, and reaction rates. The course will also focus on how chemistry applies to real-world problems, from creating new materials to understanding the role of chemicals in technology and industry. What will I learn? The course focuses on being able to explore key concepts, from atomic structure and the periodic table to bonding and chemical reactions and make links between these concepts. You will explore how elements and compounds interact, focusing on reactions, acids and bases, and energy changes. The course will also cover practical applications in fields like materials science, environmental
chemistry, and industry, showing how chemistry shapes the modern world.
Examination Structure The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Chemistry is a linear qualification. Students will sit two written examinations in the same series at the end of the course of study. The examinations are untiered and have a range of question types aimed at being accessible to students of all abilities.
