Course Expectations Achieve a minimum of grade 7-7 in Double Award , or 7 in Triple Physics at IGCSE Have a good standard of literacy and very good analytical and mathematical skills Acquire the skills needed to use technology such as calculators and data-loggers effectively What will I learn?
AS Physics introduces students to the foundations of particle physics, wave-particle duality, and atomic energy, while building on GCSE concepts in mechanics, materials, and wave behavior. They develop analytical skills through practical work in electricity, kinematics, and energy transformations. At A Level, these ideas are applied to real-world phenomena such as harmonic motion, circular motion, and electromagnetism, fostering deeper problem-solving abilities. Students also explore astrophysics, nuclear physics, and thermal dynamics, gaining insight into the universe and its laws. The course equips students with a comprehensive understanding of physics and its applications, preparing them for further study or careers in science and engineering. Examination Structure The Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Subsidiary (AS) in Physics and the Pearson Edexcel International Advanced (A) Level in Physics are modular qualifications. The IAS can be claimed on completion of Units 1-3. The IAL can be claimed on completion of Units 1-6.
