BTEC International Level 3 qualifications provide transferable knowledge and skills that prepare learners for progression to University. The transferable skills that Universities value include: The ability to learn independently, The ability to research actively and methodically, The ability to give presentations and be active group members. BTEC learners can also benefit from opportunities for deep learning, where they are able to: Make connections across units and select areas of interest for detailed study. Provide a vocational context in which learners develop the knowledge and skills required for particular degree courses, including: analytical skills creative development preparation for assessment methods used in a degree.
This qualification is designed for learners who are interested in an introduction to the study of creating Information Technology systems to manage and share information. You need to finish 360 GLH (Guided Learning Hours), which is equivalent in size to one International A Level. You will have two mandatory units that include a Pearson Set Assignment. Mandatory content is only (50%). Learners complete remaining optional units to the value of 180 GLH. You must be prepared to work independently, mostly during class time and not after school.

* Unit 1 : Information Technology Systems –Strategy, Management and Infrastructure In this unit, learners will learn about the role of computer systems and the implications of their use in personal and professional situations. * Unit 6: Website Development In this unit, learners will investigate website development principles. They will design and develop a website using scripting languages For optional units, students will need to finish another 180 GLH , either by studying two 90 GLH units or three 60 GLH units. The selection of these units will be a mutual decision between students and teacher. These units offers many diverse topics such as programming, creating social medial channels for a business or database modelling. They can also learn about mobile apps development, computer games development or creating and editing digital 2D and 3D graphics.
These qualifications give learners the opportunity to progress to study a BTEC Higher National in Computing, a degree in an Information Technology discipline or a degree where Information Technology related skills and knowledge may be advantageous, such as Business Studies. They also support learners who want to develop knowledge and skills needed for vocational apprenticeship roles, and allow for progression to job opportunities at trainee/entry levels.
