that at our best, PT’s can put the patient back in the driver’s seat. By treating the whole patient and not just their diagnosis, we help them better navigate their own rehabilitation. Regardless of how quick the recovery is, if we haven’t given a patient self-efficacy by the end of their care, then we haven’t done our job. 5. What is your favorite patient experience? I don’t think I can narrow it down to one experience, but something I find really rewarding is when a patient is surprised by their own progress. The “a-ha” moment when a patient is able to accomplish something they didn’t think they could, always makes me smile.

3. Why did you decide to become a Physical Therapist? I was first introduced to physical therapy following a relatively simple sports injury in high school. I never had my own film-worthy comeback story, but I was inspired by the experience because my therapist made me understand what the problem was and what I needed to do to fix it. I don’t think that I realized it at the time, but that small moment of self-empowerment made a lasting impact on me. From then on, I couldn’t find a good reason not to become a physical therapist, and I’m happy to say I haven’t regretted my decision! 4. What does patient centered treatment mean to you? Patient centered treatment for me, really gets to the core of why we do what we do. Too often in the health care system, patients are forced to be passengers in their course of care.
