PHYSICS EQUIPMENT Needed A vital Christian service m a y be rendered by someone willing to give or sell, at a very reasonable figure, machine-shop equipment for a Phys ics Department in ah evangelical Christian college. Among other items needed are Small Toolmakers, Machine Lathe, Small Wood-working Lathe, Grinder, etc. Write to : WESTMONT COLLEGE 231 S. I w ill take off the rubber band which binds this first bundle together, and see what happens. The matches separate immediately. L o o k ! This black sponge of hate causes them to separate. What kind of people do you think they represent? “ Unsaved people.” Yes, unsaved people often seek to get away from each other as soon as possible, and want -to go their own separate ways. We w ill take the rubber band off the other bundle. These matches cling together tightly. No black sponge of hatred causes them to separate. Chris tians who have fellowship with Christ are held together by love. When peo ple of the world see Christians who have love for each other, they realize that they are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. : • The story of Judah in Genesis gives us a beautiful example of brotherly love. He was willing to be kept in Egypt in order that his brother Benja min might be allowed to return to their father, Jacob. house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. • 0 Haste yc, and go tip to ir~ father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt] come down unto me, tarry nott 10 And thou shalt dwell in the 4and of Goshen, and .thou shalt be near unto hie, thou, and thy children, and thy chil dren’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou basts- B LA C K B O A R D LESSON BE. Were you ever in need of punish ment? Did any one offer to bear it for you? We are all in need of punish ment, for we have all sinned. But there is One who has come to stand in our place. When the Lord Jesus died on the cross, He was “ taking our corner” for us. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).. Object Lesson M e n a n d M a t c h e s OBJECTS: Two bundles of matches, each containing about twenty-five, a piece of sponge about the size of a walnut, and two rubber bands. (Glue the matches of one bundle together and place a rubber band around them. Place the black sponge in the center of the other bundle, and put a rubber band around them. The sponge can be blackened with ink. Allow the ink to dry before using.) LESSON: These two bundles of matches are like people. One is like Christians, and the other like unsaved people. You cannot always tell Chris tians by their looks, but you can .'us ually tell by their actions. Before try ing to decide which of these bundles is like Christians and which is like the unsaved, let us recall the words of John, “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life

forgetful sacrifice—even to death—is found in the voluntary death of the Lord Jesus. And the laying down of life “for the brethren”—for fellow be lievers— is still a reality in lands where persecution is the price of loy alty to Christ.—Selected. Big Brother Judah G enesis 42 t o 44 MEMORY VERSE: “My mouth shall speak truth” (Prov. 8:7). APPROACH: Harry was very proud of his little brother. He never tired of Showing him off to his playmates. Nothing was too much for him to do for the little fellow. But one day the “I just want to take my brother’s place,” he said. "I just want to stand in his corner for him.” •Division Do you love any one enough to want to take that person’s punishment for him? Let me tell you of some one Who did. LESSON STORY: When Joseph had been in Egypt many years, a famine arose, and all the people from far and near came to buy food of Joseph. He had managed so well that he had much laid up. Among others, Joseph’s brothers came. Joseph knew them, but they did not know him. Without telling who he was, Joseph gave them food and sent them home to get their younger brother Benjamin. J a c o b didn’t want to let Benjamin go, but they were so hungry that he finally consented. Judah promised that he would see that Benjamin camé back to Jacob. But that was not so easy, for Joseph played a trick which was really a test. He was, testing them to see whether they would treat this younger brother as badly as they had once treated him. He ordered his silver cup to be hidden ift Benjamin’s sack, and when it Was found there, he insisted Upon Benja min's remaining with him as his serv ant. H o w frightened the brothers all were! They remembered how sad their father would be. They were afraid to go home without Benjamin. Then Ju dah did -a generous thing. He went to Joseph and asked that he might be kept in Benjamin’s place. He told him hoW sad his father would be; he reminded him how Jacob had already lost his dear son Joseph. What do you think Joseph did? We shall find out next Sunday. child needed to be punished, and his mother sent him to the corner. Harry couldn’t stand it. Genesis 45*1 Then Joseph could not retrain himself before all them that stood bykhim; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. 2 And he wept aloud* and the Egyp tians and the house of Pharaoh heard. 3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence* 4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, 1 pray you. And they came near. And he said, I ant Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. 5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye. sold me hither* for God did send me before you to preserve life. 6 For these two years hath the famine been in the lands and yOt there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. 7 And 'God sent me before you to pre serve you a posterity In the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 So now it was not you that sent me hither, but Gods and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh* and lord of all his
