EarthCraft now stands at the edge of a new era: panelization. “We’re in the midst of a risk-laden expansion,” Jon says. “But everyone is excited.” Panelized straw bale walls will allow EarthCraft to serve younger families, new markets, and builders hungry for healthier, more sustainable options. “With panels, I lower the risk and make it way cheaper to build,” he explains. “We can stay just as custom, but reach more people.” And inside their soon-to-be fabrication facility, EarthCraft will produce not only panels but cabinetry, metalwork, and anything their projects require. “We can make anything,” he says. “But the panels, that’s the future.” The Legacy of a Mentor As the conversation winds toward legacy, Jon’s voice softens. “Ron passed a few months ago,” he says quietly. “I don’t think I will ever be able to repay him for everything he taught me.” To Jon, mentorship is sacred. “To have a mentor is a very important thing,” he says. “If you want to progress quickly with anything, go find a mentor. More often than not, you’re going to get a greater education than you bargained for.”
