c) Propping or disabling the locking mechanisms of any exterior or interior door while present or away from the space is prohibited. d) Entry or attempted entry when residential communities are closed is prohibited. Residents are responsible for knowing and complying with closing guidelines set forth by their community. e) Failure to enter residence hall properly through secured entrances is prohibited. This includes utilizing windows or emergency exit doors in non-emergency situations. Residents who do not escort their guest(s) or who prop open doors or windows are subject to a cancellation of their residence hall contract or agreement. Non-residents who are not escorted by a resident are subject to the charge of trespassing and Police and Public Safety will be contacted. Members of the Press, even if escorted by a resident, are not permitted inside any of the residence halls at any time. This is considered private property. If a student sees a member of the press in a hall, they need to call campus police immediately for assistance. 22. Keys a) Unauthorized use, possession, or duplication of keys and keycards is prohibited. b) Switching and/or borrowing keys or keycards is prohibited. c) Sharing your key with someone who is not an occupant of the room assigned to you is strictly prohibited. d) Failure to immediately report lost keys or keycards to the community office is prohibited. If a resident loses their room key(s), he or she should submit a work request via RMS Mercury immediately. The rekeying of the room will be at the student’s expense. The loss of the room and/or entrance door keys must be reported promptly to the Residence Hall staff of the Office of Housing and Residence Life

No locks, bolts, chains, or other locking devices besides those installed by Housing and Residence Life may be attached to room door frames.

23. Noise a) Failing to comply with quiet hours (11 PM through 8 AM, Sunday through Thursday, and 12 AM (midnight) through 8 AM Friday and Saturday during the academic year and 24 hours during finals) is prohibited.
