approval, which may increase approval timelines and scrutiny, could have enabled the use of military (.mil) email addresses and expanded the survey reach and results. Survey Reach. The research method used for this survey may have only included participation from a subset of the 15 national security space acquisition organizations (Aerospace Industries Association, 2024). This means the study could not determine whether participants have worked or currently work within those organizations. As a result, it is unclear whether the lack of representation across the results was a function of the survey methodology or the fact that the missing organizations are indeed not top-tier acquisition organizations. Survey Building. The survey was published with two significant errors. First, a question that would have offered valuable insights into how the acquisition community engages with Warfighters was omitted. Second, the survey lacked a “back” or “save progress” button, which prevented participants from returning later to add additional details or thoughts. Future research should thoroughly evaluate the survey tool and complete a robust preview before publishing. Hiring and Talent Management. This study did not account for the nuanced differences in hiring processes across the DoD. Organizations like the NRO and SpRCO utilize specialized processes known as “green door” or “by name request,” allowing them to hire directly through interviews or recommendations. In contrast, most Space Force organizations use standard hiring procedures, resulting in less control over the candidate pool. While this study did not explore hiring processes, it acknowledges the benefits it may provide to high-performing acquisition organizations across the DoD. Results The following section begins with an overview of the demographics of the survey participants. Participants ranged in experience and provided diverse responses based on years of experience, expertise, and the number of acquisition organizations where they have worked. The following section will discuss overall survey sentiment, which revealed general feelings toward the topic area and the strengths and weaknesses of question wording. Since tenet alignment played a significant role in this analysis, macro-level alignment is discussed first before individual
