NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

Next, the study participants were asked how many acquisition organizations they have worked within during their careers (Figure 12). This question was valuable because it enhanced credibility among the respondent population. For example, 31 of 45 participants have worked in three or more acquisition organizations, which means they had a larger pool of candidate organizations to choose from when considering which one performs acquisition best. Among the entire population, 93% worked in at least two organizations, meaning a small subset (7%) had only worked in a single acquisition organization. The former group would add richness to the data due to their exposure to multiple organizational cultures. However, it did not preclude those with less experience and exposure from providing valuable perspectives.
