Monday’s result is a far cry from last Fri- day’s tournament match between the two in South Grenville. The Wildcats had their first match of the tournament against the Rock with the score 5-0 for Rockland after the whistle. Coach Lawford chalked up the difference in the score to the longer game time for the two teams during Monday’s rematch. "This was a full game," he said, noting that tournament rugby matches run for a half hour while a regular game is an hour’s du- ration. "We certainly controlled the play," Law- ford said, regarding Monday’s match. "We were good at moving the ball forward." Lawford also noted that rugby is a major sport in Newfoundland, which is home to the current coach for the Canadian national rugby squad. Grenville 27-0. Co-coach Brandon Boivin described the South Grenville tournament as "a pretty good day" for the Wildcats. He noted that the Rock players overall averaged bigger in size than most of their Rockland opposition. "They had this one guy, grade 10, who was bigger than me, " said Boivin, who stands just over six-foot. "They (Newfoundland) were very good defenders," said Boivin. "A very hard tack- ling team, and they moved the ball very well with their forwards."
