The Good News Story

OUR NEXT CHAPTER

ILC DEVELOPMENT

WHAT’S NEXT?

Our strategic plan commits to developing GNLC so that it caters for the needs of students and families throughout the wider Wyndham community – a fast-growing, dynamic region. A review of our master plan is also underway, to ensure we can continue to serve the suburbs and communities of which we are a part – both now, and well into the future. In many ways, the story for GNLC is just beginning. We are still a young school, with a strong educational vision and a vibrant, enthusiastic student and staff population. Exciting times are ahead as our College steps into the next 25 years and beyond!

Recognising the growing need for high quality early learning and healthcare facilities in the Wyndham region, GNLC is building an Integrated Learning Centre, due to open by mid-2023. The ILC is being constructed on the site of the former Farmhouse – a 1970s building located on the land originally known as 570 Tarneit Road, which was purchased to enable the College’s transition to secondary education. This development is partially funded by the Victorian Government and will include an early learning centre as well as allied health services, maternal health services and a multi-purpose space for community activities and events. Sustainability has been a key factor informing the ILC vision. The development will promote environmental sustainability through a mix of vegetation and shading designed to reduce the ‘heat island effect’. The building will be powered by the College’s existing solar network, thereby reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Construction materials are being chosen with a focus on recycling, waste reduction, rainwater harvesting and design elements that maximise natural light and ventilation.
