A NOTE FROM SYLVIA A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

I want to begin my letter with gratitude for your support over the last several months. You called members of Congress. You became a sustaining member. You shared the importance of public media with your friends and family. Your support ensures that TPT can continue providing trusted, essential programming and services now and in the future. Although federal funding is gone, we are here to stay – and that is because of viewers like you. This is a pivotal time of transformation for TPT and for public media in Minnesota. As our plans take shape, we will keep you, our most loyal supporters, informed every step of the way. As we turn a new page and autumn settles in, I want to share some powerful programming highlights you can look forward to this September. Viewer favorite “American Experience” returns with three compelling history documentaries centered on the American presidency. On September 2, we begin with “Nixon,” an unflinching look at one of the most divisive and complex leaders in U.S. history. Then, on September 9 and 16, we showcase the two-part documentary “FDR,” exploring how Franklin Delano Roosevelt transformed the role of the presidency and redefined the relationship between the American people and their government. On September 30, “Hard Hat Riot” revisits a violent 1970 clash between anti- war protestors and construction workers in New York City—a flashpoint that exposed deep societal divisions during the Vietnam War era. I’m also thrilled to share the debut of a new TPT original series: “You Are Here.” From the team that brought you “Lost Twin Cities,” this place-based anthology explores the people, places and histories that have shaped Minnesota. The premiere features the vibrant and often surprising stories of Minnehaha Falls, the sacred site of Bdote and the rich cultural legacy of St. Paul’s West Side. Premiering as a one-hour film on September 23, you can also stream three distinct stories on the PBS App and the Twin Cities PBS YouTube channel. Thank you for standing with us during the most challenging time in our history. Your continued support is not just appreciated—it is the reason we are able to continue serving our community with trusted storytelling. It truly means the world to us.
