THE MOMENT IS NOW: WHY VIEWERS BELIEVE IN TPT COMMUNITY MEMBERS SHARE THEIR STORIES OF HOW TPT HAS IMPACTED THEIR LIVES.

In July, Congress voted to eliminate federal funding for public media stations across the country, including Twin Cities PBS (TPT), but our work continues. With key service areas that revolve around enriching children’s media, emergency public health and safety alerts, and local coverage of public affairs, plus history and arts & culture storytelling, we are looking ahead to TPT’s next chapter in serving our community. Over the last several months, we’ve heard from many of you about how much you appreciate and depend on our mission to enrich lives and strengthen community through the power of media.

This month, we are highlighting a few of the individuals who have shared their testimonials in response to a simple question: How does TPT impact your life?

FAVORITE SHOWS: “Masterpiece: Poldark” and “Jim Crow of the North”

As a teacher, TPT has been an awesome resource for my classroom. I used lessons connected to specific programs, and as a teacher in an arts school, I have really appreciated the local artist stories that are archived from “Minnesota Original.” I have also brought students in grades 7 through 12 to visit the station on several occasions. My students have enjoyed the experience of seeing creatives in action and making the connection between the shows they watched as little kids and programming that connects to their communities now.

FAVORITE SHOWS: “NOVA” and “Masterpiece Mystery: Grantchester”

TPT provides a wide range of high-quality programming without commercial interruptions. I appreciate being able to watch programming that is intellectually stimulating and that helps me become more curious about a range of areas, from science to cooking to history. I also find watching TPT to be calming for me, similar to reading a good book.
