31 years, and finally a prediction…

… I think the rates we can offer for all types of borrowing are the best we will see for the remainder of my career …

As I start my 32nd year in the World of Mortgages and Finance, I feel qualified to take the risk of a prediction. I think the rates we can offer for all types of borrowing i.e. Mortgages, Secured loans, Bridging, are the best we will see for the remainder of my career. They may even get slightly better as we near the “B” deadline, but who knows what will happen after that…? I have always liked Fixed rates personally, and although you could pay more, the certainty of knowing what you will be paying for a period looks more attractive than ever. We now even have 10 year Fixed Rate deals for residential purchase and re-mortgage, where you are only tied in for 5 years, amazing! My advice to anyone with any borrowing at the moment, is to make sure that you have the very best deal available to you, as a consultation costs nothing but a little time, and rates are “stunning”! Recently we have been able to re- mortgage some clients and either shorten their term or borrow further funds for less than they have previously been paying on their main residences. A lovely position for us to be in as advisers. Also, with Buy to Let mortgages, it’s now very important to get your payments down as much as possible, with the new taxation rules starting to bite. We also now believe that an accountant is an

essential “friend indeed” for all landlords, to ensure that all expenses are off-set and that the loan is set up in the best way for you i.e. Limited company etc. A Buyers Market….. It would seem to be, but stock is fairly low, with most of the local agents and this keeps prices buoyant. Of course, if you are buying and selling, the “gap” could be smaller than it was a year ago, and therefore cost less to finance, especially with one of our latest mortgage deals. Bristol seems to be doing comparatively well, and with prices not moving crazily like they were in 2016, it will attract more potential home owners to the City. This will hopefully encourage more employers to the area and their staff will not be priced out of the market.
