First Steps - Early Years Refugee Settlement Program First Steps offers parent-child drop-in and support for government assisted refugees and their young children aged 0-6 years, enabling them to gradually transition into mainstream services and resources. This is a partnership with DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society, Options Community Services Society and Umoja Operation Compassion Society, and is offered at two sites in Newton and Guildford. Phone............................................................ 604.547.2003 Email........................................ first.steps@options.bc.ca Growing Together (GT) Young Parent Outreach and Support Program GT is a government-selected, approved licensed prototype daycare providing quality care to 24 children (birth to 36 months), young parents and community families. GT offers a warm, nurturing environment and stimulating, developmentally appropriate activities on a daily basis. The staff values a strong liaison with parents and welcomes daily interactions and parent visits. Young Parent Outreach offers supports to young parents (25 years old and younger) including life skills, parenting and housing search assistance with medical and government appointments. Phone............................................................ 604.584.1181 Healthiest Babies Possible (HBP) HBP offers individual and group sessions focused on pregnancy, healthy eating, general physical health, emotional well-being, breastfeeding and infant care. Our service lasts from pregnancy until your baby turns 6 months old. All services are free and confidential. Self-referrals accepted.
