ERNIE is the Embry-Riddle internet portal. Through ERNIE, you’ll be able to access your student email and student homepage. You can use the student homepage to make your tuition and housing deposits, access financial aid award information, update your contact information and check your to-do list.
All students required to live on campus must purchase the 7-day All Access or Mega Block Meal Plan for the fall and spring semesters of their first two years. Other plan options are available for students not required to live in university-managed housing.

To apply for federal financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Embry-Riddle’s shared campus federal school code is 001479. You are encouraged to apply even if your family feels they are not eligible for need-based aid. For more information, contact the Office of Financial Aid. Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents may apply. International students are not eligible for federal student aid.

Enrolling at Embry-Riddle means accepting the rules and regulations of the university, including those that govern the payment of tuition and fees. Review university policies in our online catalog. Enrollment is considered an acceptance of all the conditions specified. An invoice for tuition and fees will be accessible in ERNIE for all registered students approximately 30 days prior to the due date. Payment in full for direct university costs, including tuition and fees, is due by the published due date. Accounts will be considered delinquent 10 days prior to the start of the term. COMPLETE REGISTRATION AND MATH PLACEMENT Class registration for the spring semester opens in November. Fall registration opens in May for students who have submitted the tuition deposit. An online math assessment is required to help determine the appropriate math course. Provisionally admitted students must meet their provision(s) before they can register. ATTEND ORIENTATION The mandatory New Student Orientation is conducted during the days immediately preceding the start of classes. All deposited students will receive information on orientation by mail prior to the start of the term.
Students who have completed college coursework should submit official transcripts sent by the awarding institution once final grades are posted.

A Medical Report Form is required for all students. Immunization records and the Medical Report Form must be on file in the Wellness Center prior to the start of the semester to avoid a housing check-in hold, EagleCard hold and other holds. Visit the website to learn about rates and coverage or how to opt out if you have comparable coverage.
A $200 non-refundable tuition deposit is required to confirm your intent to attend Embry-Riddle. The deposit guarantees your place in the entering class and the indicated major and is applied to your student account. The deposit due date is Nov. 1 for spring enrollment and May 1 for fall enrollment.

All first-year students who have graduated high school within 12 months of matriculation are required to live in university-managed housing for the fall and spring semesters of their first two academic years. Exceptions are made for students who are at least 21 years old, are married or have a dependent, have a permanent address in Yavapai County at time of application to Embry-Riddle or have lived on campus at another institution of higher education for at least two semesters.

Flight Students
All students intending to pursue flight training at Embry-Riddle should carefully review the following information. Failure to comply with pre-flight requirements will delay the start of your flight training. The following documentation is required to be presented at New Student Orientation prior to the start of classes.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship The Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) requires that all U.S. citizens taking flight training must show proof of U.S. citizenship. These requirements must be met prior to the start of any flight training. Proof of U.S. citizenship may be presented by submitting one of the following original documents during orientation. Provide only original documents. Photocopies, even certified copies, are not acceptable. If using a document other than a valid passport, a current government- issued photo identification document will also be required. FAA Medical Certificate All students planning to begin flight training at Embry-Riddle are required to hold a current first or second-class Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) medical certificate. Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs) are designated by the FAA to issue these certificates following completion of an application and a physical examination. AMEs can be found in

Please be aware that past medical and/or legal problems, including drug- and alcohol-related convictions, could result in you being denied a medical certificate even if you feel you are in good health. All previous medical and legal issues should be evaluated before you begin your education for an aviation-related career; if they are not, delays are common. You will not be allowed to enroll in flight laboratories without an FAA medical certificate. Therefore, to avoid delays, we advise you to obtain your medical certificate before coming to Embry-Riddle. For students coming from countries outside of the United States, please contact the Airman Certification coordinator at the Flight Department prior to obtaining a medical certificate. In some cases, medical certificates may not be valid. If you have significant medical and/or legal problems, be sure to bring copies of medical and/ or court records for your FAA medical examiner to review. Both the government and the aerospace industry consider drug- and alcohol-related infractions a serious problem. Note that paying a fine for such a charge is a conviction. Medical and behavioral standards for professional pilots and air traffic controllers are among the highest in our society. Mistakes, poor judgment and other “indiscretions of youth” can have lasting consequences for your career. Prevention through responsible behavior is key.
Do not mail original documents; bring the original documents with you to orientation. Students will not be allowed to start their flight training until this documentation is submitted. Student Pilot Certificate In addition to the FAA Medical Certificate described above, students enrolling in FA 121 are required to obtain a Student Pilot Certificate. The Student Pilot Certificate may be issued by any flight instructor prior to your arrival, or it can be issued by your Embry-Riddle flight instructor once you are assigned. Certificates or Flight Ratings Earned Before Enrolling at Embry-Riddle Original certificates must be presented in the Flight Data and Certifications Office for possible advanced standing credit. Copies can be sent to Admissions prior to enrollment for unofficial transfer credit evaluation. Credit may vary based on degree program.
Information About Flight Training for Non-U.S. Citizens Non-U.S. citizens must comply with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notification requirements. The Embry-Riddle Flight Data and Certification Office will assist international students with required Transportation Security Administration (TSA) registration. The students are required to submit a training application, fingerprints, a valid passport and student visa along with a processing fee to the TSA. The students can register for flight courses and begin flight training as soon as the TSA approves the training request. The training application will be done with the Airman Certification coordinator upon arrival at Embry-Riddle. Some advanced flight courses may require a waiting period of up to 30 days. If Embry-Riddle receives any directive from the DHS or the TSA, the student may be administratively withdrawn.
Additional Information for Flight Students
iPad Requirement All flight students are required to have an Apple tablet for utilization of flight planning software during flight activities. The 10.5" or smaller iPads are recommended.
The cost of flight training is not covered by your tuition payments. For detailed information on flight costs per year and per course, visit prescott.erau.edu/admissions/estimated-costs. These costs are subject to change.
Embry-Riddle Student Drug-Testing Program
In an effort to maintain a work and educational environment that is safe for its employees and students, the university has established a mandatory flight student drug-testing program. Success in the aviation industry requires a commitment to excel and the discipline to avoid unsafe practices. The use of illegal drugs constitutes an unsafe practice and is incompatible with an aviation environment. All students entering the flight training program are subject to random and post-accident drug testing in accordance with the policy outlined in the undergraduate catalog: catalog.erau.edu/prescott The university reserves the right to immediately suspend or dismiss any student who uses or possesses illegal drugs.
