S u m m e r is OVER, and to my un disguised happiness, Septem ber is here again. Those bored youngsters are going to be back in school again and the only word that describes this mother-joy is “ yippee!” My joyousness is overshadowed with some sobering thoughts, however; a son in high school and a daughter in junior high facing all kinds o f pressures I never faced. I did come across an article by some junior high boys o f Lakeside Junior High School in San Diego that gave me quite a lift and considerable hope. I’ll pass it on to you worried, almost- panicked mothers. It seems that 39 junior high boys formed a girl-watching club and then published the following “ proclamation” . We the boys o f the Girlwatch-

ers Club, have been watching girls for the past four weeks. Some o f what we have observed has pleased us. BUT much o f w h a t we h a v e s e en DIS PLEASED, DISGUSTED AND REPULSED us. Therefore, we have agreed and resolved that some changes must be made. We feel the changes s u g g e s t e d are reasonable and fair. In general, all we are ask ing is- that girls again become feminine in their thoughts, words and deeds, because they should be different from boys. Boys do not like the careless ness girls display when sitting with legs apart or lying on floors, grass, benches and retaining walls. This is no thrill fo r boys or anyone else—just obnoxious! 9 9 9 WE ARE D I S T U R B E D by
