RunPro concept offers runnability, energy saving and ropeless tail threading optimization for the paper / board machine from the wet end to the reel We are able to supply total drying section rebuilds and modernizations including e.g. web stabilizing, roll relocations, vacuum roll drilling and automatic ropeless tail threading equipment. Web stabilizing and machine geometry modifications eliminate runnability problems efficiently and are often required to ensure fluent paper making process. These maintenance free solutions have a huge impact on drying and energy costs.

PRESS SECTION

Improved runnability and efficiency in a free-standing press

EVsp Web Stabilizer eliminates the blowing problem by blowing air out of the nip and thereby creating vacuum No mechanical contact between the stabilizer and the press felt

Effective sheet support from the press to the dryer section

EVp Web Stabilizer creates a high vacuum level under the dryer fabric which keeps the sheet in contact with the dryer fabric No mechanical contact between the stabilizer and the drying fabric

Reliable tail threading for the press section

Press RunShooter delivers the tail directly from the center roll to a separate press or from a separate press to the dryer section Optionally the tail can be delivered directly to the dryer section ropes System can be semi or fully automatic

Suitable for all paper grades with a basis weight below 300 gsm

Minimum air pressure of 5 bar (75 psi)

SINGLE FELTED SECTION

Optimized web release with a special high vacuum area at the critical sheet release point between the upper cylinder and the vacuum roll

Traditional air nozzles of the stabilizer in the critical opening nips have been replaced with a high release nozzle with extremely tight manufacturing tolerances EasyOne concept is maintenance free: there are no mechanical sealings between the stabilizer and the dryer fabric meaning 100% efficiency without any service requirements EasyOne web stabilizers together with SingleBlow threading pipes improve slalom section tail threading significantly Lower investment cost for any traditional air system equipment or lay-out demands Existing bottom row dryer cylinders or rolls can be converted into vacuum rolls on site

We also offer more conventional web stabilizing concepts that are very efficient at improving the dryer section runnability up to a certain speed limit.

Reduced unsupported draw by 25-50% between the top and bottom dryers enables trouble free runnability and supports ropeless tail threading with TailBlade technology Excellent runnability and pocket ventilation effect together with offset felt roll configuration Better drying capacity due to reduced pocket humidity levels and longer sheet wrap against the drying cylinders Optimized pocket ventilation corrects pocket moisture profiles and eliminates the corrective over-drying of the edges

Excellent tail threading technology for the challenging long open draws

RunShooter technology can be used for example, before the size press, Clupak and in the pope reel area Tail pick-up and cutting is done with flip trays or with non-contact air pick-up units The tail is guided by using low-friction RunShooter F plates with minimized air consumption RunShooter tail threading units are light-weight, compact and easy to install No rotating parts or motors make the system virtually maintenance free

CASE STUDIES

Mondi SCP Ružomberok PM17, Slovakia dryer section rebuild target was to improve runnability and reduce tail threading time. The 2nd dryer group bottom cylinders were drilled on site and new EV EasyGo web stabilizers were installed. Press section belt threading system was replaced by new Press Runshooter unit and slalom section tail threading was done with Runtech’s Single Blow technology. After dryer section was converted to ropeless for improved operator safety. This also reduced tail threading time and number of unplanned shut-downs. Start-up was smooth, and all project targets were achieved immediately.

Smurfit Kappa Cali PM4, Colombia tail threading rebuild start-up went extremely well. Delivery included TailBlade M units for the pre- and after dryers and ropeless Clupak area. Cali PM4 makes both sack paper and linerboard so there has to be a possibility to bypass Clupak. Now operator can select the tail threading path from the switch, so transfer from sack to liner is now very quick. Before the rebuild, a long machine down was required to re-route the ropes. Average threading time after sheet break has dropped 35%. Earlier the mill lost Clupak ropes 3-4 times per month which required additional downtime and caused production loss. This challenging project has fulfilled all the targets and the customer is very pleased with the results.

Hamburger Hungaria Dunaújváros PM3, Hungary reached immediately significant improvement in energy and process efficiency by dryer section rebuild. The upgrade consisted of EV EasyOne concept, vacuum roll conversion, shortened open draw between the press and dryer, EVpv pocket ventilators, tail threading modification enabling ropeless tail threading, vacuum system update with EP Turbo units and new heat recovery systems. Power consumption of the vacuum system was reduced significantly. When the specific energy consump- tion, SEC, with liquid ring pumps was 65 kWh/ton, it is now at the world record level 20 kWh/t. Sheet fluttering was reduced and tail threading is now faster and easier than before. Less supply air is required to the web stabilizers in comparison to the situation before the rebuild.
