DIRECTOR’S NOTE
W e are in the third year of our new CPA-focused MAcc program. The new MAcc program allows students to explore audit, advisory, and tax in the fall and specialize in the spring. As part of this new program, we introduced two Capstone Experience courses where students pursue professional development and professional certification over two semesters. Last year 42 students not only worked on their graduate degrees, but also sat for the four parts of the CPA exam as part of their program of study. We are very encouraged by the excellent CPA performance of last year’s cohort, and we look forward to working with this incoming cohort of high-achieving accounting students. This year we rolled out a newmentoring program for the incoming cohort where students are assigned a mentor in their field of study. MAcc students are being mentored by Chief Audit Executives, as well as Partners and Directors of the top corporations and public accounting firms in metro Atlanta. The Class of 2021 joins KSU with median undergraduate and accounting GPAs of 3.8 and a wide range of professional and extracurricular achievements. We are committed to preparing our MAcc students not only to be technically proficient today, but also to be adept in enduring skills like critical and unstructured thinking, so they are prepared for a changing future. We look forward to an exciting year with this incredible group of students.
The accounting program at Kennesaw State holds a separate accounting accreditation by AACSB – INTERNATIONAL, THE HALLMARK OF EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS EDUCATION.
