ANCC FOUNDATION DID YOU KNOW?
Herbert Strong Herbert Strong was born in Ramsgate, Kent, England in 1879 and spent his youth at Royal St. George Golf Club, starting as a caddy. By 1902 he was the golf professional at the Gog Magog Golf Club (Cambridge, England). In 1905 he immigrated to the United States to take the golf professional position at Apawamis Club (Rye, NY), moving to the same position at the Inwood Golf Club in 1911. Two years later he finished solo ninth, six shots out of the Ouimet, Vardon and Ray playoff in the U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, MA.
