This module delves into theories, models, and strategies for evidence-based practice in health and social care. It evaluates the purposes, uses, and limitations of different approaches while considering political and economic aspects. Decision-making is explored from various perspectives, including practitioners, purchasers, providers, and consumers. The course introduces tools for critical appraisal and evidence transfer, encouraging discussion and critique among experts, researchers, and students.

This module will enable students to competently undertake a full physical examination of the newborn. This will be from a holistic perspective, critically appraising the relevant antenatal and intrapartum factors in relation to contemporary literature and professional responsibilities, in accordance with local/national policy and the current standards of the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) Screening Committee, Public Health England.
