This Foundations in Public Health module will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills that underpin public health theory and practice within a global contemporary context. We'll explore historic and current trends in public health, with an emphasis on the reduction of health inequalities and the causes of premature death through pre-emptive action. Our weekly units will examine the key determinants of health including: environmental behavioural socio-economic cultural and disease factors. Global perspectives are integrated into each unit providing you with knowledge and skills that demonstrate cross-cultural awareness, and valuing human diversity. We'll consider Inequalities across groups, populations and countries, as well as links between health inequalities and race, gender, employment status and class .
