other companies do, but what should we do? How can we be different? How will we drive value? I find that all very energizing. What do you love most about living abroad? I really love the diversity of people who live in London. My friend group is made up of Americans, Brits, Germans, Dutch, South Africans, New Zealanders, Brazilians and on and on. I absolutely love traveling, but getting to spend my day-to-day with people from other cultures brings a lot of richness to my life. What do you miss about living in the U.S.? My friends and family. My mom is in Arizona, my dad is in Colorado, and I have a ton of friends in New York. Also, good Mexican food. It’s pathetic here. Circling back to your college years, what made Alpha Phi stand out during the recruitment process? I loved how dynamic the women at Alpha Phi were. They were smart, kind, funny, athletic and down to earth. I loved other houses, but Alpha Phi is where I simply felt the most comfortable. I obviously made the right choice! What was your experience like in Alpha Phi? It really defined my college experience and beyond. I held a lot of leadership roles including director of campus activities and chapter president, and I will forever preach that those experiences prepared me better for my career than anything I learned at university. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my education; but there are some things you just have to learn by doing. Running a sorority is truly running a business. The experience running Alpha Phi gave me so much experience for my career, particularly with leadership and management. I became a people manager at 23 — something I wouldn’t have been prepared for without my leadership roles at Alpha Phi. What advice would you offer younger Alpha Phis? Take advantage of the opportunities to learn and grow. As you get older there is more pressure to be specific in what you focus on, but when you are young, you have time to explore. Open your mind and be curious! Do you know any Alpha Phis who embarked on international adventures?

We’d love to hear about them. Email us directly at quarterly@alphaphi.org.
