As autumn approaches, thoughts of harvest — the process or period of bringing in the crops, of reaping what has been sewn and grown — arise. For many, this is a time of toil pushing forward to celebration. For some, whose hopes at the time of planting have been dashed, it is a WLPHRIVRUURZ³+DUYHVW´LVWKHFXOPLQDWLRQRIZKDWZHKDYHSODQWHG KRZZHKDYHWHQGHGLQÀXHQFHVEH\RQGRXUFRQVFLRXVFRQWURODQGWKH outcome. This is the cycle of life. There is a fable about a gardener who found great peace and joy in tilling, planting and tending his garden, then sharing his harvest with the members of his village. However, for some time, there had been great turmoil in his village, so much so that it distressed him deeply. In desperation, he left his village and his beautiful garden and went in search of peace — and ways to restore peace to his beloved communi- W\0DQ\YLOODJHUVVDGO\VHQWKLPRQKLVZD\LQVHDUFKRIWKHVROXWLRQ because their hearts were heavy and they so desired peace. :KLOHKHZDVJRQHVRPHYLOODJHUVUHDOL]HGWKH\QHHGHGWRPLQGWKH garden in the gardener’s absence. Since there was a lot to be done, RWKHUV VKRZHG XS WR KHOS *UDGXDOO\ HYHU\RQH ZDV LQYROYHG $V WKH produce grew and the picking proceeded, there was great sharing — deliveries were made to homebound folks and hospitals. The joy of collaboration was felt by all. The bounty of the abundant harvest was shared far and wide.
