The food was absolutely incredible. Her seared tuna over salad with rice noodles was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had, and I’ve been dreaming about her shrimp pad thai and shrimp tacos for weeks. Marah and I are huge foodies, so Julie’s Asian and Caribbean-influenced dishes were a highlight of the trip for us. When we weren’t busy eating, Julie’s husband, Jack, hooked us up with a rented Jeep so we could tour the island. It took a little while for me to adjust to driving/riding on the “wrong” side of the road, but eventually, I got there. Fortunately, I haven’t messed up my lanes since we got home! Between all the riding and eating for a bargain at Julie and Jack’s, we also went snorkeling, tried stand-up paddleboarding, and hiked a beautiful trail to see the Reef Bay petroglyphs. The hike took us past a pond and a waterfall — it really felt like paradise. During a snorkeling trip, Marah and I even saw a double rainbow. Thanks to Julie, Jack, and their dog Makai, Marah and I were in good hands for our whole trip. We came home to Bennett with sand between our toes, feeling relaxed, recharged, and ready to tackle the new year. As I said in last month’s newsletter, I’m incredibly excited about what 2023 has in store for us. 2022 was a record year of giving for Chiro1Source, and the team and I are looking forward to another big one in 2023. excursions, and flipping through rental options on Airbnb and Vrbo. It’s her thing, so when we decided to take a vacation at the end of 2022, I told her to go wild — and she really delivered! In late November, we spent five full days on St. John, the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was our first full- week vacation since 2019 and our first trip without Bennett. He stayed with Marah’s parents and sister for the whole island adventure. I’m not going to lie: I had such a blast! Marah and I stayed in a little fourplex property managed by a husband-and-wife team. Julie, the wife, is a retired private chef. During her career, she cooked for celebrities like Johnny Depp and The Rolling Stones — and during our vacation, she cooked for us!
