The Pensions Ombudsman You have the right to refer your complaint to The Pensions Ombudsman free of charge.

The Pensions Ombudsman deals with complaints and disputes which concern the administration and/or management of occupational and personal pension schemes and can assist either;

a) Through its Early Resolution Service, a streamlined and informal service that does not require complainants to have used the IDRP; or b) Through its adjudication service which can be used if a complaint cannot be resolved following the completion of the IDRP Contact with The Pensions Ombudsman about a complaint needs to be made within three years of when the event(s) you are complaining about happened – or, if later, within three years of when you first knew about it (or ought to have known about it). There is discretion for those time limits to be extended.

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) The Pensions Regulator (TPR) is the public body that protects workplace pensions in the UK. TPR works with employers and those running pensions so that people can save safely for their retirement.

TPR is responsible for:  making sure employers put their staff into a pension scheme and pay money into it (known as ‘automatic enrolment’)  protecting people’s savings in workplace pensions  improving the way that workplace pension schemes are run  reducing the risk of pension schemes ending up in the Pension Protection Fund (PPF)  making sure employers balance the needs of their defined benefit pension scheme with growing their business TPR is not responsible for:  dealing with queries or complaints from scheme members about their pension benefits  providing scheme members with help on how to access their pension savings  finding lost pensions  dealing with State Pension or tax queries
