KEY 4: Proximity is Power
He told me my first step needed to be moving into a better environment. He said, “You can’t think like a millionaire if you’re living like a broke person.” It struck me. I went home that day and found a way to get a small apartment in a nicer area. Just being in that environment shifted how I saw myself. I started dressing differently, acting differently. People started to perceive me differently. And it opened up new opportunities. Later, when I could afford it, I moved to a neighborhood where there were actors, directors, and producers. I’d see them at the coffee shop and the gym. We’d strike up conversations. Some of those people ended up being instrumental in my success. But I never would have met them if I didn’t put myself in that environment. Your environment is either lifting you up or pulling you down. The people you surround yourself with are either increasing your standard or decreasing it. If you want to get to the next level, you have to be intentional about getting in proximity to the right environments and people.
