Chris Ragland has managed real-estate-related businesses for the past 20 years, including brokerage, disposition, insurance, management, finance, development. Ragland’s favorite role to play is investment mentor. An active investor and principal in several real-estate-related ventures, he continues his mentoring mission through his investment firm Ragland. Given the short timing, a grassroots follow-up and communication effort is not possible. The GRC continues its education efforts with policy makers, making them aware that the added costs created by burdensome legislation is ultimately passed on to the tenant, furthering the housing affordability crisis. •
DAY ON THE HILL FOLLOW-UP Earlier this year, members of the Government Relations Committee and other volunteers from Think Realty met with members of Congress as well as staff from the offices of representatives Maxine Waters and Sherrod Brown. Think Realty Committee members are currently following up with staff from both offices with respect to matters that impact real estate investors, specifically eviction moratoriums, housing discrimination, and housing vouchers. MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT Committee member Abhi Golhar alerted Think Realty to a policy review currently before the Michigan Supreme Court that could make the collections and evictions process for tenants overly burdensome on housing
