Scripture: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and

His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well .

M y name is Steve Tiebout and like many of you, I grew up in a family of car enthusi- asts. From my earliest memories I remember traveling in the back of our ‘32 Chevrolet street rod, going to car shows almost every week- end. The highlight of the year was going to the Street Rod Nationals and spending an entire week with my family and family friends that we traveled with every year. Truly, those were some of the best mem- ories of my childhood. Today I’m blessed to have inherited my parents’ ‘69 Camaro convertible they bought brand new and special ordered from General Motors in 1968. I also inherited the ‘32 Chevy Vickie from my earliest memories that my

to deliver His messages in Thy Rod each month. My hope is to pro- vide hope, encouragement and comfort to all readers. As we start this journey I want to talk about worship. I believe God created every soul and inside every soul He put a desire to wor- ship Him. Think about it, every- body you know is looking to wor- ship something or someone. Some people worship their careers, oth- ers worship famous people or heroes. We street rodders often make an idol out of our street rods and muscle cars. For some, their cars are all they talk about, all they live for, and it’s where they spend all their money. When we fall into the trap of worshiping anything, other than God, our lives and pri- orities will be upended. I believe there’s nothing wrong with enjoy- ing hobbies, especially cool cars. However, when we put them before God and our families, it’s a problem. Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” To truly worship, God means to seek him first in our lives. I’ve met plenty of street rodders who under- stand this, and plenty who miss it. I want to ask you, which one are you? I have been both at different times in my life and I will tell you from my experience that when I seek God first he truly does give me the desires of my heart. Psalm 34:3 states: “Magnify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.” When I put him on the back burn- er and worship other things besides the Lord, it dishonors him, and it unravels me. Take it from me who has lived a part of my life apart from God, and a part of my life worshiping God: the soul can only find true joy in the worship of God Almighty. Nothing else will fill the void. dad built from scratch in the early ‘70s. I enjoy driving the Camaro every day between March and November and people often ask me why I’m driving such an expensive car for my everyday driver. My answer is always, “If you’re given a blessing, you shouldn’t put it under a bushel.” I’m not sure where the time has gone but now, as a father of six and Pastor of The River Community Church in Cookeville, Tennessee, we enjoy our local area and its awesome culture of Cars & Coffee events and a very active local car community. Having enjoyed Jim Rowlett’s messages in StreetScene or at various NSRA events over the past 27 years, I feel it’s a great privilege and calling 877-596-3842 www.tanksinc.com/SS
