Cruising Returns to the West

B akersfield, California, always seems to attract rodders anxious to hit the road after a winter of tin- kering and dreaming of cruising. Always a warm retreat for those attending, the 48th Western Street Rod Nationals were held at the Kern County Fairgrounds April 25-27. Early arrivals headed out to Old Skool Speed Shop where a Thursday evening Kick-Off Party was in full swing. The first event of the 2025 NSRA rodding event season kicked off Friday morning when the OFCC Host Club from nearby Wasco and Visit Bakersfield hosted a Continental Breakfast. Before everybody began checking out the show highlights, including the Swap Meet coordinated by Ted Wieseman and Women’s World coordinated by Sandy Phillips, participants visited registration where Lynn Adams, Peggy Cook, Juanita White and volunteers from the Corvettes of Bakersfield completed their registration paperwork. The dynamic team of Toni and Paula Draeger gathered 33 ladies for the Sanderson Headers-sponsored Ladies Tea. “Mark 209” entertained the cruisin’ participants both Friday and Saturday evenings and
