What A DAY

While Mother Nature threw us a curveball, we were incredibly encouraged by the turnout. Over 100 enthusiastic volunteers from Menlo College joined us, and we had 87 dedicated walkers and runners who braved the elements to participate.

“The rain must have been a letdown, but our boys had SUCH a Blast Today! So definitely did not negatively impact them at all...puddle jumping made it that much more exciting.”

Future Outlook

Based on the success of our inaugural Morrissey Compton 5k Color Run & Walk, here's a draft plan for future events: Date & Time: Consider a date in late April or early May to avoid unpredictable spring showers. The morning hours (between 8 am and 10 am) tend to offer pleasant weather conditions. So keeping the same timeframe. Marketing & Promotion: Earlier Promotion: Start promoting the event at least 3-4 months in advance. Utilize social media platforms, local publications, flyers, and partnerships with community organizations to spread the word. Highlight Uniqueness: Emphasize the event's fun aspects like colored powder throws, a festive atmosphere, and the opportunity to support a good cause. Target Audience: Focus on families, young professionals, and health-conscious individuals in the local area.

Participant Recruitment: Early Bird Registration: Offer discounted registration fees for those who sign up well in advance. Team Incentives: Encourage team participation by offering prizes for the largest team or the most spirited one. Virtual Option: Consider offering a virtual participation option for those who cannot attend in person. Event Logistics: Weather Contingency Plan: Have a backup plan in case of rain, such as tents, covered areas, or a postponement date. Volunteer Coordination: Secure volunteers well in advance and assign roles for registration, course management, color throws, and post-event cleanup. Entertainment & Activities: Include live music, photo booths, food trucks, or other activities to keep participants engaged throughout the event. Fundraising: Corporate Sponsorships: Seek sponsorships from local businesses in exchange for logo placement on event materials and social media promotion. We already have a NEW 2025 Sponsor! Peer to Peer-to-peer donations: Encourage our community to fundraise on our behalf earlier in the year. Evaluation & Improvement: Participant Feedback: Collect feedback through surveys or questionnaires to understand participant experience and identify areas for improvement. Volunteer Feedback: Gather feedback from volunteers to ensure their needs are met and their roles are well-defined for future events. Financial Analysis: Review expenses and fundraising results to identify areas for cost-saving and revenue generation in future events. By implementing these future plans, we can build upon the success of the inaugural event and create an even more engaging and impactful Morrissey Compton 5k Color Run & Walk in the years to come.

See you in 2025
