In 1994, however, Cedric’s life took an un- expected nosedive. “I’d always wanted to become an Air Force pilot,” he says. “But that year, I made some poor de- cisions and got kicked out of Air Cadets.” It was a devastating blow. “I didn’t know what to do after that,” he continues. “I had no Plan B. “I was a hard worker, but that was about all I had going for me in those years,” he explains. “When I wasn’t working, I was partying. Hard. Night after night after night.” In May 2002, Cedric finally bottomed out. “I was living in Kitchener and spent my last $300 on my habit, knowing full-well that my rent was due the next day,” he admits.
