HudsonAlpha Impact Report 2023

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

HudsonAlpha’s Educational Outreach programs provided learning opportunities to more than 1.5 million students, educators, healthcare professionals, and members of the public over the 2022-2023 academic year.

MAKING STEM ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS From field trips to summer camps, HudsonAlpha’s educational programs provide enriching opportunities for middle and high school students to come to HudsonAlpha’s biotechnology campus and experience STEM hands-on. Because of the generous support of our donors, HudsonAlpha welcomed over 2,300 students for 100 student experiences. HudsonAlpha launched a new STEM Saturdays

program, allowing nonprofit organizations who serve underrepresented youth to bring students to HudsonAlpha’s campus for a weekend day of hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art teaching labs. HudsonAlpha is also launching a new program called Genetic Explorers . This program will be hosted at nonprofit organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs and will provide activities for students that educate them about STEM.

This career day was an eye-opening experience. It eased my anxiety about my future and made my dreams seem more possible. — Lexi, 12th grade student from Lee High School

HUDSONALPHA’S BIOTECH CAREER DAY In celebration of National DNA Day in April, 11th and 12th grade students from across Madison County came to HudsonAlpha’s campus for DNA in Biotech. Structured like a small professional conference, students from every high school in Madison County heard from a wide range of STEM professionals.
