HudsonAlpha Impact Report 2023

FOSTERING EQUITY IN STEM CAREERS The BRIDGES program brings recent graduates from minority serving institutions to HudsonAlpha for a one-year fellowship in the Institute’s genomics research labs. Additionally, HudsonAlpha collaborates with the Alabama Office of Minority Affairs and Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide opportunities for students to work in laboratories and other professional settings at HudsonAlpha.

Being a part of the HudsonAlpha HBCU Co-Op allowed me to better understand the various scientific careers I could enter into. It also helped me understand that I have what it takes to be in biotechnology.Working at a place like HudsonAlpha isn’t a far-fetched dream anymore — it’s a goal. — Joycelyn Williams, former HudsonAlpha HBCU Co-Op intern, current participant in the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Research Training Program
