ROYLAND MARTIN

R oyland Martin hails from Bennettsville, South Carolina, where he graduated from Marlboro County High School in 2003. A pivotal moment in the summer before college, he was able to sit in the audience of the popular show 106 & Park. Seeing the cameras, lights and action

on the set, ignited his passion for television. Pursuing this newfound interest, he attended South Carolina State University from 2003 to 2008, earning a degree in Professional English/ Broadcasting.

in Columbia, SC, serving for five years as an editor and photojournalist. His responsibilities included editing the morning show, shooting news stories, operating cameras, and more. Seeking greater challenges, he moved to New York City in 2013 to join MSNBC as an editor. Over the past 11

years, Royland has contributed to several flagship programs, including “Morning Joe,” “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “The ReidOut with Joy Reid,” and “The 11th Hour with Brian Williams,” among others.

Post-graduation, Royland began his career at WIS TV
