9.7 CCTV spot verification
Purpose & usage: The CCTV surveillance system is a tool that helps retail management observe the activity on the floor. An efficient surveillance system helps to reduce shoplifting and employee theft, creates a safer workplace, improves productivity and enhances customer service.
Audit procedure:
The auditor will check the following:
1. The storage of footage on the CCTV server and recording status.
2. That the number of cameras available are sufficient and cover all areas.
3. The CCTV system had valid credentials and is only used by authorized personnel.
4. Verify the “exit/entry” of staff in the Boutique, shift handover and disputed moments.
5. CCTV footage can be used as evidence in case of incidents reported on retail premises.
