8.2 Evacuation procedure

Purpose: Evacuation procedure and practices are set to establish actions and duties for each individual, to promote planning, and to establish staff training in case of an emergency that requires evacuation. This section highlights specific responsibilities for employees, Managers on Duty and Fire Wardens, from evacuation points to fire assembly points.

Procedure:

1. When the fire alarm is activated, or automated evacuation message is on, refrain from any tasks and locate the nearest emergency exit. 2. Evacuate the building and inform the customers and employees that they need to proceed to the nearest assembly point. 3. At the assembly point, conduct a headcount to report all the occupants in your area of responsibility.

4. Wait for further instructions from your Fire Warden.

Note: All fire assembly points will have the sign below to mark the relevant area.

Evacuation plan:

Emergency evacuation is the urgent, immediate escape of people away from an area that contains an imminent threat, an ongoing threat or a hazard to lives or property. It is the duty of the Boutique Manager to ensure that a copy of the evacuation plan is visible on the Boutique premises. The team need to be fully aware of the exit routes and assembly points.

Press the nearest fire alarm button if the alarm has not sound and stay calm Leave the building by the nearest exist using the stairs. Proceed to the fire assembly point.

Panic

Use the lift.

Follow the instructions at the assembly point.

Walk away from the assembly point

Remain at your assembly point until you have been given the instructions to return to the building by your fire marshal.

Return to the building until authorized to do so.
