MY EPIC CHALLENGE Conquering 3 Mountain Marathons in Lake Tahoe
A new challenge awaits. Actually, a new spin on an old challenge. Lake Tahoe is home to a brand new “29029” Everest Challenge for 2024 — also known as the “29029” 3x3 TRAIL Tahoe. Previous “29029” Everest Challenge participants and I have one goal in mind: To spend 12 hours per day for three days to complete three mountain marathons, totaling 78.6 miles. It’s more about distance (marathon) than height (29,029 total feet in elevation) as in previous challenges. We will navigate the picturesque and rugged trails around Lake Tahoe. The elevation, ranging from 6,000 to 7,000 feet, only makes it more taxing — we must be in peak physical condition. As I gear up for this bold adventure, the parallels between my preparation and the planning required for clients’ successful retirements have become strikingly clear. Long-Term Planning: Retirement planning involves setting long-term goals and creating a road map to attain them. This includes saving consistently, investing wisely, and≈adjusting plans as needed.
Florida summer weather, strength training, and recovery periods to ensure I could withstand the continuous strain of three consecutive marathons. Professional Guidance: All participants benefit from the expertise of endurance coaches who provide tailored training plans and recovery strategies. In retirement planning, working with our team at WRN can offer valuable insights and personalized blueprints to ensure a secure and comfortable retirement. Recovery and Maintenance: Just as recovery is crucial between marathon days, maintaining financial health during retirement is paramount. This includes regular reviews of retirement plans, adjusting investments and portfolios, and ensuring a steady income stream. Adaptability: I will face various conditions, from weather changes to unexpected physical hardships. Similarly, retirement plans must be flexible to accommodate life changes, market fluctuations, and unforeseen expenses. The Mental Game: Endurance events require a solid mindset to push through physical pain and fatigue. Mental methodologies like visualization, positive self-talk, and mindfulness are crucial to staying focused and motivated throughout training and the event.
Similarly, retirement planning involves a mental commitment to stay centered and present on long-term goals. It requires the ability to remain calm and to make rational decisions during market volatility, which we have witnessed recently, and economic uncertainties. Community and Support: My journey is not a solo endeavor. I am inspired by a supportive community that provides encouragement, optimism, and championship. My community, thankfully, is large; and this sense of community is vital for boosting and maintaining my morale and pushing me through tough times. Having a support system is equally important in retirement planning. We at WRN offer guidance, we share experiences, and we provide emotional support. Building a network of trusted individuals can make the retirement planning process more manageable and less daunting. A supportive team can help individuals stay committed to their monetary goals, especially during market downturns or personal setbacks. Celebrating milestones and successes as a team boosts morale and reinforces the value of collective effort. Whether it’s completing a marathon or reaching a personal or financial accomplishment,
My preparation involved a rigorous six-month training program to build
stamina, strength, and resilience. This plan included long-distance hikes — sometimes with weighted vests — in hot and humid

RELAX AND ENJOY HOBBIES TO DIVE INTO DURING VACATION
Have you ever vacationed somewhere sensationally beautiful and full of things to explore, only to spend an inordinate amount of time in the hotel room or lounging around at a cafe? We can only do so much sightseeing. But you can enhance your time off, even while taking it easy. From cooking new foods to learning a new language, here are three hobbies to try while on vacation!
Bon Appétit One of the main draws of any vacation is the food. Think of all of the cities and countries synonymous with some form of cuisine. New Orleans has the po’boy. Spain has paella. Scotland has haggis. If you want to experience the culture of a region in a unique way, take a cooking class! You can learn an authentic recipe and take it home with you to relive the magic all over again. Paint a Pretty Picture Painting from an actual, in-person reference rather than a printed picture is exciting. If you are headed somewhere with spectacular views, pack a canvas and painting supplies. Picking up painting can make any vacation more rewarding. Learn a New Language Me gusta pollo picante. Impressed? With a few lessons, you, too, can say, “I like spicy chicken” in Spanish or any other language. Language learning apps, like Duolingo, LingQ, and Babbel, can help you pick up the basics quickly and easily. Once you know some vocabulary, it’s best to improve your fluency in another language by immersing yourself in it. Head somewhere new and practice your craft! ¡El mundo es tu ostra!

EMBARKING ON NEW ADVENTURES Linda and Jeff’s Inspiring Cruise Journeys Retirement is the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in life! It’s a time to embrace passions, explore new adventures, and make the most of the years ahead. For Linda and Jeff, long-time Wolf Retirement clients, retirement has been anything but slowing down. With a love for travel, they’ve already embarked on 27 cruises and have nine more planned through the end of 2025. Linda and Jeff have enjoyed every destination thus far, with three trips especially standing out as memorable: Martinique, Aruba, and St. Martin. “All three are simply breathtaking,” they say with smiles. “The beaches are beautiful. In Aruba, there are cacti everywhere, which we weren’t expecting; and in St. Martin, there’s always something fun to do, and shopping is great!” “We love cruising,” they tell us. “It’s a great way to travel to places that we otherwise wouldn’t have a chance to visit.” They enjoy the ships, taking advantage of the amenities, and meeting new people. “We love the opportunity to choose if we want to be social or stick to ourselves, and the ships allow us that option,” they say. Linda and Jeff are loyal to the Carnival cruise line, although they’ve taken Royal Caribbean four times and had a great experience. They recommend that anyone interested in taking a cruise should take a shorter cruise to test it out, explore the different options, and ensure they don’t get seasick. Linda and Jeff tend to opt towards the longer cruises — the longest adventure they’ve been on to date is 14 days! In fact, they have a 14-day Panama cruise coming up that they are excited about, because it’s a new destination to check off their bucket list!

shared celebrations strengthen the bond and commitment within the team. Trust — the Foundation of Success: I believe trust is built upon mutual respect. I trust my coaches’ expertise and dedication to guide me through my unrelenting training regimen, striving to conquer the three mountain marathons. Similarly, we want our clients to place their confidence and trust in us to provide sound advice and strategies for their retirement plans, striving to secure their future. This long-term trust prevents short-term setbacks from derailing overall goals. Our journeys are both epic, and I can only hope our adventures mirror each other’s dedication, resolve, and resilience to achieve great things, both on the trails of Lake Tahoe and on the road towards your abundance in retirement. Keep your eye on the prize — together, we will conquer our quests!
Thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us, Linda and Jeff! Until next time! Bon Voyage!

From Tea to Tombs
Explore London’s Quirky Corners
Big Ben’s massive clock face, London Bridge’s walkway, and Buckingham Palace — London is known worldwide for its many historic landmarks. But tucked into all its layers of culture are truly unusual and lesser-known attractions to explore. So, brush up on your Monty Python, pack an umbrella for London’s rainy days, and set a course for the most unique experiences England’s capital has to offer. Twinings Tea Shop A trip to London wouldn’t be complete without tea time, and there’s no better place to explore the city’s historic love affair with this aromatic beverage than Twinings Tea Shop. Opened in 1706, the shop quickly became known for having the finest teas around and continues to serve tasty cups. Twinings has been the official tea supplier to the royal family since 1837, and its original logo remains on the building.
Highgate Cemetery If you want to see the city’s spookier side, the Highgate Cemetery is one of the most impressive of London’s “Magnificent Seven” park cemeteries. The Victorian Gothic-style tombs and buildings were built in 1839, and it has a history of vampires, too! Multiple Hammer horror films were shot there in the 1970s, and two magicians famously challenged each other to find and kill a vampire there around the same time. Neither was successful, but it remains a popular site for lovers of the paranormal and the occult. The First Public Drinking Fountain London is home to perhaps the most fascinating water fountain in the world. This simple granite basin, built in 1859 and adorned with the words “Replace the cup,” was the first public water fountain. Before then, water was precious, monopolized by water companies, rare to come by, and
undrinkable. As people pushed for public access to water, a philanthropist named Samuel Gurney created this fountain, attached to the gates of the St. Sepulchre- without-Newgate Church on Holborn Hill. It became an instant hit. An estimated 7,000 people would stop for a drink daily when it first hit the scene. The city has many hidden treasures, whether you hope to catch a vampire in one of London’s historic cemeteries or sip on a culturally esteemed drink.
