BW Converting Exhibits Baldwin, W+D Technologies At SCE Green Bay, Wisconsin based BW Converting will demon- strate at SuperCorrExpo 2024 (booth #1911) how corrugat- ed printers can achieve more with less with its Baldwin and Winkler+Dünnebier (W+D) portfolio of innovative tech- nologies for optimized corrugated high-graphics package printing and drying and e-commerce mailing bag manu- facturing. BW Converting will highlight the Baldwin FlexoCleaner- Brush – a fully automated flexo plate-cleaning system that can be up to 126 inches (3.2 meters) wide. Enhancing print quality and improving worker safety in corrugated printing, the system automatically removes dust and contamina- tion from the plate in seconds during production, without stopping the press. It also performs full end-of-job plate cleaning and drying in less than four minutes, enabling in- creased uptime, reducing the impact on the environment, and saving thousands of dollars per year in consumables spending. Because the FlexoCleanerBrush is fully automatic and spans the entire width of the plate cylinder, it improves safety by eliminating routine operator contact with the ma- chine and reduces the risk of operator contact with wash agents and cylinder nip injuries. Its core is made of carbon fiber, which ensures a stable, uniform and consistent flexo plate cleaning throughout the whole width of the plate and keeps this wide system to a minimal weight. In addition, BW Converting will highlight its Baldwin FlexoDry Infrared (IR), a fully integrated IR drying sys- tem, specifically developed for corrugated flexo printing presses. Engineered to maximize press throughput, boost production speeds and reduce energy consumption, the FlexoDry IR system utilizes patented Diamond IR lamps to focus powerful IR radiation. These lamps use a unique ceramic reflector that directs all light to the substrate, re- sulting in 30 percent energy savings when compared with other IR lamps. The system delivers dramatically improved drying results through a unique optical design that pro- duces higher intensity for enhanced color definition and reduces or eliminates marking altogether, allowing for high-speed and full-confidence printing. “Baldwin continues to increase its brand recognition in the corrugated space, and we are excited to showcase our products that help converters provide a safer working environment for their team members, reduce press down- time through fully automated cleaning processes and de- liver higher-quality output on the press,” said Craig Black, Vice President of Sales, Baldwin. “These all add up to a positive impact on bottom-line profitability. We take the environment seriously. With the leading IR drying technology we guarantee significantly reduced energy consumption over traditional suppliers, and our cleaning systems drastically reduce water and CONTINUED ON PAGE 64
Corrugated boxes make the world go ‘round in a truly circular motion. The industry’s long-standing commitment to sustainability adds up to an incredible 50% per unit
reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions for an average corrugated box from 2006 – 2020, and we’re still improving. Learn more about the renewability, recyclability and responsibility of boxes at: https://www.fibrebox.org/life-cycle-assessments.
