2.3 Products Sampling Procedures

Ensure sampling is part of the customer experience and to increase cross-selling and up-selling of Bateel products 2.1 – 2.11; Sampling 01.mov; Sampling 02.mov

The standard operating procedure below explains the importance of preparing and presenting Bateel products in a luxurious manner, enabling us to expose new and different products to our customers. The Operations Manager will communicate which products are to be offered for sampling, following the Sampling Calendar and with the proper guidelines according to the item. As part of your customer service, you should always promote sampling of our products so that our customer can discover the uniqueness of our products.

Guidelines:

• Always keep the tongs and the liners clean according to our cleaning procedures.

You should always have 2 tongs near your display, one for Chocolates (K40000841 Sugar Tong L11cm SST/1031693) and one (K10000055 Bread & Pastry Tong 18 cm) for Dates and Cup Liner -1 pc to place the item chosen by the customer to sample.

• When the customer chooses which Date or Chocolate he would like to taste, pick the chocolate or date with the correct tong, place it in the Liner-1pc and handle to him. • Make sure you handle the tissues box and the container for date stones if applicable. • Watch the videos for your reference. o Sampling 01.mp4 o Sampling 02.mp4

Guidelines:

• Remove the insert and empty a B60001278 Bateel Assorted Mahmul Tin Can 300g-2022 and use the Mahmoul for the display. • Fill the Tin Can as per the pictures below with the different choices of biscuits in display using the paper cups. • Label the back of the Tin Can with a sticker with the current date for your reference and rotate the biscuits when necessary or every 3 days. Don ’ t forget to update the date sticker whenever you rotate the biscuits. • When the customer chooses which biscuit he would like to taste, pick it up with the chocolate tong, place it in the Liner-1pc and handle to him. • Make sure you handle the tissues box. • In case the customer asks for a sample of Mahmoul, handle the wrapped ones. • Watch the video for your reference: o Sampling 03.mp4

Bateel Miniature Dhibs Lines:

 Please try our new organic date dhibs at home. We have a sample to offer you.

 The product is made using Bateel’s organic dates.

 Dhibs are a healthy alternative to sugar.

 Enjoy this delicacy at home with breakfast / with your coffee & tea/ for baking with or served with aged cheese.

Important Points on the Sampling Process:

 Ensure that all items given for sampling are clean and well presented.  Prepare a sampling tray containing all types of flavours available in store.  Miniature dhibs will be arranged on a large Sophia Silver tray.  The sampling tray must be wiped and kept in clean condition at all the times.  Ensure that all sampling jars are closed and have not been opened.

 Keep the sampling tray in the backwall preparation area.

 Sampling tray can be presented to all customers, with high focus on:

1. Loyal or high-spending customers

2. Customers interested in healthy and organic products

3. Customers interested in gourmet products

 Once you have offered the sample and enquired what flavour they would like to try, bring them the flavour that they have requested.

 Ensure that the tray is always full. Refill the tray immediately after giving samples to customers.  If a customer wants to take more than one sample to try, allow them to do so. Each sample offered to customers must be recorded on the sampling log sheet and recorded together with the tasting sheet at closing.

Bateel Chutney Lines:

 “ We are proud to have two delicious new gourmet relishes, available in two different varieties: one is a savoury blend of organic dates, apples and mixed spices, the second is a naturally sweet blend of organic dates and apples.

Would you like to try? ”

 Explain the “Sweet” variety:

“ A delicious and naturally sweet blend of Bateel organic dates and apples, with a chunky, spreadable consistency. It is perfect for a cheese platter or with crackers. ”

 Explain the “Spicy” variety:

“ A delicious, savoury blend of Bateel organic dates and apples, lightly spiced with a chunky spreadable consistency. It goes very well with hot or cold meats, a cheeseboard or to top up a curry. ”

Important Points on the Sampling Process:

 Ensure that all items given for sampling are properly cleaned.  Prepare a Sophia sampling tray containing all types of flavours available in boutique.  The sampling tray must be wiped and kept in a clean condition at all times.

 The sampling tray can be presented to all customers.

 Ensure that the tray is always full. Refill the tray immediately after giving samples to customers.  If a customer wants to take more than one sample to try, allow them to do so.

 Each sample offered to customers must be recorded on the sampling log sheet and recorded together with the tasting sheet at closing.

 Gloves must be worn during the preparation

 The large Sofia Tray must be cleaned with hot water and detergent and wiped thoroughly

 Cover it with a rectangular paper lace doily

 Form a dollop of chutney with two disposable spoons and place it in the middle of the cracker

 Ensure the portion size is equal and the dollops are nicely shaped

 Prepare 6 crackers at the time (3 of each chutney flavor) and place them carefully in the cup liner

 The Sofia tray with all items should be prepared at the back of store area on time

 The sampling tray must be brought to the front by the Sales Associate

 The products must be explained to the customer

a. The tray must be removed from the glass display counter after each tasting. A colleague must take care of this so that the Sales Associate can remain with the customer b. The tray must be wiped and kept in clean and shiny condition at all the time c. The tasting plates and sugar glass must be cleaned with detergent and wiped after each tasting d. The sampling tray must only be presented by Sales Associates who are fully trained/knowledgeable on the product and always with a smile e. Each tasting needs to be monitored and recorded in the specialty products tasting log sheet (after the tasting is done) f. By end of the day, open jars of chutneys must be kept in the fridge for up to a maximum of 3 weeks g. No customer should be offered a sample from the chutney jar directly
