3.6 Pest control

Purpose:

Bateel Boutiques must be free of all pests: flies, roaches, ants, mice and rats.

Pest control is a service provided by a pest control contractor on a regular basis. To ensure a pest-free Boutique, we must maintain the highest level of hygiene throughout the Boutique and comply with municipal/food control authority policies.

Frequency: Monthly

Pest prevention procedure:

 Regular, daily cleaning.

 Do not store food items on the floor (even in closed boxes).

 Never keep dates/chocolate boxes open or any other food products uncovered.

 Discard any spilt products immediately.

 Dispose of trash and garbage promptly.

 Use plastic liners/bags for garbage cans to aid in cleaning the containers.

 Wash garbage cans weekly with hot, soapy water.

 Contact your maintenance team to close all openings around cables, drainpipes, vents and pipes to make them pest proof.

 Routinely inspect incoming shipments to control the spread of pests.

 Eliminate any conditions where pests might nest and spread.

 Make sure to have an electric insect killer in each Boutique and clean it regularly.

 After trading hours, make sure to switch off all the lights (a lot of insects are drawn to the warmth given off by lighting).
