Proofreading checklist Have I used capital letters at the beginning of every sentence? Have I used full stops (or ? or !) at the end of every sentence? Have I spelt tricky words correctly?

7 Write your description neatly. Draw a picture to go with it.

• Remind pupils not to write whole sentences when they are collecting ideas. • Help pupils to see that word webs help them to organise their ideas. CR When pupils are reading over their writing, encourage them to look out for Creole structures and change them into standard English.
