2 What is the main idea of each of these paragraphs?
We also use the wood from the coconut tree. The wood is straight and strong. It can be used to build houses, huts and boats. In some countries, people use monkeys to pick coconuts. They train the monkeys to do this job. Sometimes there are competitions. The winner is the monkey which picks the most coconuts in a short time.

• Exercise 2, photograph: Ask pupils to look closely at the photo. Ask why they think the monkey is on a chain. ( If the monkey were loose, it would run off with the coconuts. ) • Speaking and listening: Tell each group to choose someone to take notes . Remind them that they don’t have to write complete sentences. Tell them to choose someone to report to the class. • When they report back to the class, fill in the last column of the KWL chart on the board.
