Remember: a pronoun is a word that is used instead of a noun. Josh did not pick his things up.

1 Replace the words in bold with him , her or it . Example: I wished Josh happy birthday. è I wished him happy birthday.

1 I made a card for Mommy. 2 We gave Josh a present. 3 Grandpa looked at his laptop . 4 This CD is for James . 5 I gave the book to Miss Blake . 6 I ate the cake .

• You may wish to tell pupils that these new pronouns are ‘object pronouns’. • For more work on object pronouns, see Workbook 2 page 34.
