mama rosa (sadly) : My son, Samuel, wants a drum but I can’t buy him one. bird : Give him some bread. If your son cares for other people, the bread will be a drum one day. narrator : Mama Rosa made some bread. mama rosa : Here is some bread, my son. If you care for others, it will be a drum one day.
• Remind pupils that different types of text have different features. Explain that the words in capital letters tell us who is speaking. The words in italics tell us how they are saying the words. The list of characters tells us how many actors are needed. • Explain that NARRATOR is another word for storyteller. The narrator tells us things that can’t be understood from what the characters say.
