Unit 18 How to Make a Kite

What you need: paper or thin card a plastic bag 2 sticks sticky tape a long piece of string scissors What to do:

1 Draw a diamond shape on the paper.

2 Cut out the shape.

4 Tape two sticks onto the kite.

3 Decorate the shape.

• Features of instructions usually include: o a list of things that you will need o numbered steps set out in the right order, each step beginning on a new line o verbs which begin each instruction (put, get, spread, cut, etc.) • Bring in examples of instructions which tell you ‘How to’ do something (e.g. a recipe or instructions on a packet). Look at what they have in common, such as numbered steps, a verb at the beginning of each instruction.
