Listen up! Listen to your teacher read two texts to you. 1 What is the main idea of the information text? 2 What is an omnivore? 3 What is the story about? Reading Now read the story. Monkey Learns to Share A long time ago, Monkey and Crocodile wanted to grow food together. First they planted pumpkins. Crocodile asked, “How will we share them?” “You take the parts under the ground,” said Monkey. “I will take the top part.” “Thank you,” said Crocodile. Poor Crocodile got little, thin roots and Monkey got the fat yellow pumpkins. Monkey thought Crocodile was stupid. Next they grew sweet potatoes. Monkey asked, “How will we share them?” “This time I will have the top,” snapped Crocodile. Poor Crocodile got the horrible leaves and Monkey got the fat, tasty potatoes.
