Language: singular and plural
Singular means one. Plural means more than one. To make the plural, we add ‘ s ’ to most nouns. part â part s 1 Complete these sentences. Change the words in brackets to show there are more than one. 1 Crocodiles lay (egg).
2 They have sharp (claw). 3 Monkeys live in (tree).
4 The two animals were (friend). 5 (Plant) have leaves and roots.

• Speaking and listening, Exercise 2: Retell the story as a class. Ask selected pupils to say what happened ‘first’, ‘next’ and ‘then’. Encourage pupils to elaborate the story and say what Monkey and Crocodile felt and said at each stage in the story. • Tell pupils that the things that happen in a story – the events – make up the plot . • Extension: Ask pupils to tell the class about a time when they shared something.
