Word work: opposites

Tall is as different as possible from short. Tall and short are opposites .

• Exercise 4, extension: Point to an object in the classroom and ask individual pupils to suggest an adjective to describe it. Demonstrate that there is usually more than one way of describing a thing. Encourage pupils to ask themselves: How old? How big? How many? What shape? What colour? What is it made of? • Language, Exercises 5 and 6: Point out to pupils that describing something or somebody is not just about listing adjectives. When describing a place, they should say what they see and hear there.
